The 53rd BOISC Bay of Islands International Yellowtail Tournament wraps up with 40 teams including returning Aussie regulars. Team St Moritz lands a 29kg kingfish on 6kg line. Inshore snapper fishing in the shallows is firing right now.

Kahawai schools are thick in the Bay, making bait easy to catch and converting well to snapper. James from Sydney visits the shop for tips — then proceeds to outfish everyone on big kahawai strips. The Yellowtail International tournament kicks off 11–16 June.

The year of the Easterlies! Young Tyler Davey lands an 88kg striped marlin on 10kg line in 1 hour 50 minutes of stand-up fighting. When the weather allows, good pannies are being found in the shallows.

Mojo restored! Young Tyler spots a "horse" snapper on the strayline, the Cater Marine Small Boats comp sees numerous marlin tagged, and Kevin Hardaker takes the snapper prize at 11.3kg. Rocky Point and the 9 Pin are holding good fish.

Mitch (aka Uncle) nails a thumper snapper on a slider, while Bevan Beauchamp solo-tags a 220kg blue marlin from his trailer boat. The Reel Ladies competition produced marlin tags and good snapper, with the Cater Marine Small Boats comp coming up.
