BOI Fishing Report - 30th April 2026

The high cost of fuel may be detering a lot of anglers from heading out? It has certainly changed my plans with our fishing spots chosen for the shortest travel distance. Fortunately at this time of the year you can catch some nice sized pannies in the mangroves so you don’t necessarily have to go far. And if you don’t want to put fuel in the boat, the shore based fishing is pretty good too!

The last fortnight weather wise has been kind. We have fished shallow areas near Robbies with softbaits and dead baits and the strayline has out fished all other methods, although the softbaits snagged a few as well. Although the fish aren’t huge, they are quite plentiful and in great eating condition!

ANZAC weekend experienced some good fishing weather and customers reported good fishing. The kingfish are fat at this time of the year but you have to travel a little further to get to the usual spots.

Next on the tournament calendar is the International Yellowtail to be held 7 – 12 June. There may be some spots still available but get in quick as its usually oversubscribed!

Come into the shop to check out the latest in gear, get your bait, ice and berley, and most importantly, some genuine intel! We are reducing our opening days from the 1st May through to the 1st September. Closed Mon, Tues and Thurs, Open Weds, Fri, Sat from 9am to 4.00pm, but close on Sundays at 3pm. As always, if you urgently need some supplies after hours just give me a call.
