Bay of Islands Fishing Report 15May24
One happy Pete with the best fish of the day!
Team “Zeus” has been out there doing it again! Photos of huge crayfish, kingfish and snapper have been an almost daily arrival in my inbox! Not sure where these fellows go but I’ve seen them turn left at the Nine Pin and head for the Cavalli’s? Not to worry, Captain Craig heads back to the USA end of this week which will allow the fish stocks to recover!
Meanwhile I’ve continued with mostly straylining in the shallows and been rewarded with a feed each time. We’ve been using skippy, kahawai and jack macks as bait but the fish certainly aren’t fussy at the moment. Plenty of lovely pannie sized fish but that lazy softbait drifting way out the back still often returns the biggest fish of the day. Been meaning to head into the middle grounds and try some new slow jigs but with the cost of fuel and no work-ups to be seen I’m staying close to the ramp!
Next on the competition calendar till the BOISC 54th TOTALSPAN YELLOWTAIL INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT to be held 9-14th June. In the meantime, plenty of time to get out there and practice!
